US IT Job Market

In January the job market for IT professionals in the US continues went through a small dip to grow in the 2nd half of January and in February. In March the index came to a halt and then started a decline. Not a pretty look for those looking for a new job. The indicator for online job ads is currently at 113.3 (January, 01 2010 = 100).

There is still about a quarter of the mortgages "under water" meaning that the property is currently valued at less than the outstanding amount on the mortgage. Unless this improves consumers as a group will be constrained in increasing their expenses. In our opinion the real estate issue in the US is far from solved and as a consequence has an indirect negative impact on the job market in general but also on the openings for IT professionals as well.
